I finally got around to making these well talked about protein bars/balls. It's all over Pinterest and of course I have a few of those recipes pinned on my boards. The recipes I have seen and have been interested in trying are the Larabar recipes. I love those bars and have seen how simple and natural their ingredients are, so I figure why not try to make them at home, and guess what? They are just as simple as it sounds and they taste amazing!
So for this recipe I did the Homemade Chocolate Brownie, because who doesn't like chocolate?
Homemade Chocolate Brownie Bars/Balls
Prep Time: 10 min.
- 15 dates pitted
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cup almonds
- 2 tbsp water
- Using your food processor, I have this one , add the dates and water until a paste forms.
- Add the cocoa powder and almonds and pulse until a dough like texture forms.
- Using a baking sheet, lined with wax or parchment paper, place the mixture in the baking sheet or form small balls and place on the sheet.
- Place in the fridge to firm up for a couple hours.
